Frequently asked questions

Short answers about Selora, signing up and taking part in research. If yours is not here, call or email us.

We help you find clinical studies that fit you. You tell us your area of study and your ZIP code. We compare that against what studies near you have published about who they need, and we text or email you when one looks like a fit. You decide whether to contact the study.

No. Signing up, receiving match messages and leaving are all free. If a study team ever asks you to pay to take part, treat that as a warning sign and ask us about it.

No. Signing up with Selora only means you hear about studies. Joining a study is a separate step that happens with the research team, after they have explained it to you in full and you have signed their consent form.

The study’s own research team. Every study has rules about age, health and medicines, and only the team running it can check you against them. A match from us means a study looks worth asking about, not that you qualify.

We use them to look for studies for you and to contact you about them. We do not pass them to a study team unless you ask us to. Our privacy policy sets out the rest.

Some studies cover travel or pay for your time and some do not. That is set by each study, and the research team will tell you before you agree to anything. We never promise payment.

Possibly. Many studies compare a new treatment with a placebo or with a treatment already in use, and you may not know which you are given. The team must tell you this before you join. Our page on how trials work explains why.

Yes, at any time and for any reason, and leaving does not affect the care you get from your own doctor. It helps to tell the study team so they can make sure you stop safely. Read more on your rights.

No. You can sign up with us and contact a study team yourself. It is still a good idea to tell your own doctor, who knows your history and can help you weigh it up.

Usually not. Most studies cover the cost of the study visits, tests and treatment. Ask the research team which costs are covered before you agree.

Only when there is something worth telling you, and no more than four messages a month. Reply STOP to any message to end them. The details are in our SMS terms.

That is common. New studies open through the year, so we keep looking while you stay signed up. You do not need to do anything until we write to you.

Neither. We do not run studies, see patients or give medical advice. We are a matching service that points you towards studies run by others.

Yes. Choose the area that matters most on the sign-up form, then reply to our first email with any others and we will add them.
